Help I'm melting

Wow, what a couple of days here in Brisvegas. My southern guests will be glad that the cool change will have arrived by the time they get here. If yesterday was hot, then today was insane. Official weather observations had us topping out around 37 degrees but with the humidity the way it was it felt 40 plus for sure.

With the insane conditions prevailing I decided to avoid any outdoor activity and instead head to the PCYC to shoot some hoops and use the gym. I've recently discovered a perk to my volunteer coaching gig with the Dragons basketball club. As a coach I get free access to both the basketball courts and gym whenever I want, so today I took up the offer. I did about 1 1/2 hours on court and lost about 3kg in fluid I reckon (maybe not) but it was bloody hot. It's still a bit of a battle hobbling around on my totally buggered knee but I do love to get a basketball in my hands these days (it takes me back to my youth).

If you're wondering how I find the time to go to the gym during the day then allow me to explain. This is the final week of Uni break with classes beginning next Monday. I've kept very busy during the holidays doing 4/week long internships with the News Ltd and working for 'The Wire' but I deliberately kept this final week free to prepare for Uni and celebrate my birthday week in true style.

Relief has arrived at last this afternoon in the form of a cracking summer storm. At 3pm this afternoon it was as dark as 9pm and you knew we were in for a drenching. Today's thunder action was some of the most impressive I've ever experienced. I nearly had to change my shorts at one point when some lightening struck very close by and the ensuing thunder clap could have woken the dead. The positive result is a drop in temperature of about 15 degrees which is very welcome indeed.

So as I sit here tonight, settling in for a late night of World Cup action and listening to the rain on the tin roof, I'm feeling like my grand plan is coming together. I had a mini goal of 119kg by my party and subject to any massive blow-out when the siblings arrive to lead me astray I should come in well under that.

As promised enjoy the happy snap above of yours truly preparing to take on Mike Tyson.

And big shout-out to Danny who has officially become the first person to comment on this blog. I have changed my settings to enable anyone to comment regardless of whether or not you are a follower. So comment away, the more the merrier.

Till next we speak.
